In front of me I have a wine making kit. Now this wine making kit contains everything you’ll need to make a wine, equipment wise. It also contains most of the things you’ll need to make a fruit wine of your own. So, the first thing you’ll need to have in your wine making kit is a 7.9 gallon fermenting bucket with a lid that has a drill hole in the middle of it. This hole will accommodate your air lock. The air lock, you’ll fill with sanitizing solution or water, then place the middle piece in to the air lock and let it float. Now this lets air and gas escape from the wine making bucket and doesn’t let any infectious organism back into it. You’re also going to need a hydrometer in your wine making kit which is going to measure the progress of the fermentation. This will give you an idea of the alcohol content. We’ve also got a half pound of sanitizing solution that you’ll need to clean everything with before you put any wine in or juice into it. A siphoning unit should also be included in your wine making kits with a rigid racking cane and you should have 5 feet of tubing and it should also have a clamp on the end so that you can stop the flow of the siphon. A bottle brush should be included as well so that you can clean all of your wine bottles. You’ll also want your wine making kits to Include a 6 gallon carboy for you to do your secondary fermentation in. Also you’ll need a number 10 drilled stopper that will fit into the top and which the air lock will fit into the drilled hole for sanitation. Also included should be a bottle filler which has a valve on the bottom that when you touch the bottom of the bottle the bottle will fill and when you lift it up the bottle will stop filling, which makes it very convenient for bottling. Then we should also have a two handed corker in our wine making kits, the arms clamp onto the bottle and it inserts the corks. The wine making kits also come with your first 30 corks or so and those are ready for you as well.
